Programme

The goal of management is to achieve organizational objectives through the effective utilization of material resources and coordination of people. The Business and Management program provides students with the conceptual knowledge, technical background and people skills to advance their career objectives. An important focus of management is effective decision-making. The Business and Management program helps students identify the expectations, constraints and available choices when making decisions in managerial positions.

In today’s global economy, students must cope with change and develop a better understanding of other cultures. The diversity of the student body at Webster Vienna and the professional background of the international faculty provide the ideal environment to develop the skills to manage complex change.

Director

Target audience

  • The Business and Management programs prepare students for international careers in multinational corporations in every branch of business from arts management and the service industries to manufacturing, retailing, and e-commerce. The program puts a strong emphasis on the application of theory to practice through the use of interactive methods of instruction such as case studies, teamwork, and real-world projects. One of the most important outcomes of the program is the ability to work in a team. Another important emphasis is on entrepreneurship and e-commerce. While many graduates find positions in management, others use their entrepreneurial knowledge and skills to start their own companies.

Emphases/Curriculum

The capstone for the M.B.A. program gives students the chance to bring together all of the theories, skills, and tools studied during the program and integrate them into a learning experience that highlights the nature of competition and the kind of strategic maneuvering that must be done in order to succeed. Additionally, the M.B.A. core curriculum is aligned with the content areas that are specified for the new Certified M.B.A. (CMBA) examination.

The degree requires satisfactory completion of 27 credit hours of the M.B.A. curriculum and 9 credit hours of graduate electives for a total of 36 credit hours, or if an area of emphasis is selected for a total of no less than 48 credit hours. Students who require prerequisite courses may have to complete more than 36 or 48 credit hours to receive the M.B.A.

Program Curriculum

The required courses in the M.B.A. program are:
  • Marketing
  • Organizational Behavior
  • Finance
  • Advanced Corporate Finance
  • Applied Business Statistics

  • Business Research Analysis
  • Strategy and Competition

Areas of emphasis for the M.B.A. degree are:
  • Finance
  • Human Resources Management
  • International Business

Practical relevance

The internship program gives students practical experience in a real-life setting by placing them on special projects in multinational and local firms. Program participants augment the development of their skills outside the classroom and gain insights that help them in choosing a career. Some recent internships include the following projects:
  • Body Shop: Evaluate advertising campaigns for the local market
  • Chrysler Central Europe: Analyze pricing and distribution options
